ROLE CLARITY

Advice, governance, and management are different jobs.

Operating Advisory provides judgment, preparation, decision support, and defined implementation help. It does not include daily management, direct reports, routine staff-meeting attendance, unlimited document review, or authority beyond the agreed scope.

Formal board service is evaluated and documented separately, including governance responsibilities, fiduciary duties, conflicts, indemnification, directors-and-officers insurance, meeting cadence, committee work, and time expectations.

The standard in either role

  • Written preparation before consequential discussions
  • Clear decisions, owners, deadlines, and definitions of done
  • Direct communication when risk or execution is drifting
  • Respect for management’s authority and the board’s responsibilities

Best for companies where operating judgment will materially improve the decision.

Founder-led, private-equity-backed, family-owned, and professionally managed sporting goods, outdoor, games, toys, fitness, lifestyle, ecommerce, retail, and omnichannel companies.

Playconomix can work with the CEO and management team, the sponsor, the board, or a commercial-banking relationship team—provided the role, confidentiality, decision rights, and expected outcome are clear.

Selective by design. Clear on role, access, and accountability.

Advisory and board conversations are reviewed for operating fit, decision access, management alignment, governance expectations, and the ability to create meaningful value.
